  • 10th Dec. Attested at Lewisham and placed on Army Reserve. A territorial soldier.
1916
  • 24th Oct. Mobilised and posted to the 108th Territorial Reserve Bn. 108th consisted of 13th (Reserve) Bn. (Cambridgeshire), the Suffolk Regiment based at Wimbledon in 1917.
1917
  • 26th Jun. 1917. Posted to the 22nd Reserve Bn. Rifle Brigade.
  • 29th Jun. 1917. Embarked overseas via Egypt to Salonika to join the 22nd Rifle Brigade part of the British Salonika Army (BSF).
  • This battalion was used for garrison duty at vulnerable points in Egypt and then Salonika joined the 228th Brigade of the 28th Div. Note: This Brigade was formed on 26 February 1917 as Army Troops, although it was always associated with this Division. It came under the command of the Greek Crete Division on 30 September 1918.
  • Oct.1917. Suffered Malaria. Admitted 60th General Hospital Salonika.

  • 18-19th Sept. The Second Battle of Doiran. The 28th Div. was held in reserve in this battle
  • 22-28th Sept. The pursuit to the Strumica Valley.
  • 4th Oct. 228th Brigade disbanded.
1919
  • 15th May. Transferred and posted to the 2nd Garrison Bn. Kings Liverpool Regiment.
  • 18th Aug. Returned to the UK.
  • 17th Sept. Discharged to 32 Queenswood Rd. Forest Hill, London.
