Manttan John Frederick, Private 26483 2nd (11th) Garrison Battalion Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry
1916
- 22 August. John was with the 11th (Garrison) Battalion formerly known as the 2nd (Garrison) Battalion. In July 1916 it was at Portland. It wasmoved to France on 22 August 1916 where it then remained. Renamed the 11th (Garrison) Bn on 13 July 1918.
- November-December The Battalion was based at Vielle Chappelle in the Lens sector
1917
- The Bn was to stay based at Vielle Chappelle and seemingly task for this period with ‘Examining front Line Posts’ which I take to be repair and maintenance activities as I can’t think what else this could mean. Note the war diary available only runs to Sept. 1917
1918
- As we know from Chris Baker (Long Long Trail website) the battalion was renamed in July to be the 11th Garrison Bn.
