Enlisted 1916 at Bletchley, signed attestation as Fred James Blencowe, next of kin Mother Matilda of 18 Victoria Rd Bicester. Fred medically assessed B1 reason for subsequent posts to lighter duties. Posted to 96th Training Battalion based at Chiseldon and (this battalion previously the 22 Hampshire Regiment).

- 23rd Jul. Mobilised from 96th Training Battalion and subsequently posted to 259th Company, Royal Defence Corps.
- 19th Oct. Transferred to 268th Company, RDC.
1919
- 1st Jan. Transferred to No 5 Prov. Coy Dorset Regiment 1 Jan 1919 (prison guard unit).
- 10th Dec. Demobilised and returns to 18 Victoria Rd Bicester.
