Medal card and medal roll give us some information. The medal roll tells us George was with the 1st (Foreign Service) Garrison Somerset’s. I take this to mean the 1st Garrison Battalion Somerset Light Infantry which was formed in Plymouth in January 1917 and served overseas.

- May. Arrived to attach to Rawalpindi Brigade (4th) of the Indian Army 2nd Div.
Note: The Rawalpindi Brigade (4th) held posts at Abbottabad, Attock, Bura Gali, Ghora Daka, Kalabagh, Khanspur, Khya Gali, Lyallpore, Mona, Murree and Sardogha and others during the war. Some of these locations on the North-West Frontier.

Note: About this time there were riots going on in what was then India, Lahore becoming part of the partition between Pakistan and India much later.
