  • 13th Feb. Attested at age 33 yrs; Occupation Woodworking Machinist; Address 49 Glasslyn Rd. Crouch End, London.
  • 26th Feb. Mobilised into Horse and Motor Transport section of ASC as a Lorry driver. Company 37 HAMT which was placed with the 5th Division of the British Army.
  • 8th/9th Aug. Embarked Southampton for Le Havre France. A driver (DM2 driver designation) with the ASC transports section.ASC Commer truck
  • 10th Aug. ASC section attached to 141 Siege Battery Royal Gun Artillery.
  • 19th Dec. ASC section attached to 604 Coy 141 Siege Battery.

Note: The Siege Batteries were deployed behind the front line, tasked with destroying enemy artillery, supply routes, railways and stores. The batteries were equipped with heavy Howitzer guns firing large calibre 6, 8 or 9.2-inch shells in a high trajectory.
