WW1

Blincow Percy Reginald, 1897, Princes End, Staffs, Private, 58968, 249 Coy, 7th Bn. South Staffs Regiment, 4th Bn.(Reserves) Royal West Kent Regiment

1915
  • 9th Dec. Enlisted at Bilston, Home address 32 Bradley Lane Cosely. Percy’s service records are damaged and hard to read. Trade a Blacksmith.
  • 29th Jun. Held in reserve until this date then mobilised.

The 4th Royal West Kent’s appears on his faded records and this could be a reserve unit he joined with the BEF or it could be the unit he was discharged from.

1916-1917

In Reserve, he could have been service exempted based on his occupation.

1918
  • 20th May. Medical examination by the Army for posting
  • 22nd Nov. While the records are indistinct it appears that Percy was sent to join the BEF after the Armistice on 22nd Nov. 1918 and stayed perhaps as part of the Army of Occupation as an allied POW Camp guard. The 4th Bn. (Reserves) Royal West Kents seems to be his Regiment at this time.
1919
  • 3rd Dec. Discharged from 249 POW Coy, South Staffs Regiment.
Medals

No medals because Percy was at home until Nov. 1918 and posted overseas after the war had finished.

After the War

Married in 1917 and had one child
