WW1
Blencowe Michael, Bombardier/Private, 14766, 29473, Royal Field Artillery, Private Army Veterinary Corps.
1914
Enlisted about 8th Nov. 1914 comparing his service number with known dates for the regimental number in others enlisting in the Royal Artillery..
1915-1916?
Initially, a Private Michael was at some point made Acting Bombardier with the Royal Artillery. Medal Card and Medal Card Roll indicate overseas service with the RACV but he was clearly with the Royal Artillery in May 1916 as a postcard from him attests.

1917-18
At some time in this period, Michael transferred to the RAVC as a Private and not with a SE prefixed number (which was used to indicate a daily allowance for skills like Housekeeper etc.) We can speculate that Michael was transferred to RAVC because of injury or illness.
1919
- Likely discharged.
Medals
A photo of Michael’s actual medals supplied by Granddaughter Vicki Sims. He was awarded British and Victory medals in WW1 and the Defence medal in WW2. The top badge is a Royal Artillery badge.

I believe Michael’s spouse was Annice and not Annie. I have checked this against the 1901 Census for Somerton. Michael was my Grandfather of whom I have fond memories. Regards Peter Blencowe bh235bq@gmail.com
