, this was an accounting department of the RNAS. We know that Thomas was a manager in a Corn business and it seems his skills were utilised in the accounting departments of the services.
1918
- 3rd Mar. Initially an AC2 (Aircraftman 2) and transferred to RAF muster at rank AC1 3 Mar 1918. Note: ranks in the RNAS/RAF and didn’t always correspond to actual roles
- 31st Mar. Discharged. The RNAS along with the RFC was merged with the RAF on 1 April 1918.
- 1st Apr. Posted to RAF Tregantle, Cornwall which was an RNAS aircraft storage depot. After the merger it didn’t last long before closed down so given Thomas’s accounting role in RNAS was it some sort of audit activity I wonder
- 9th Aug. Posted to RAF Halton, Bucks.2 A base camp where his accounting role was probably continued
1919
- 19th Jan. Transfer to RAF Reserves.
