WW1
Blincow William Henry, 1877, Hulme Nr Chorlton, Private, Rifleman, 310, 201170, 19th Bn. Rifle Brigade.
Note: The number 310 for the Rifle Brigade was held by George Brown when he attested for a 12 year period in 1889, so the number must have been retired probably after this term C1901.
1915
- 29th Nov. Harry a territorial soldier enlisted with the 19th (Service) Battalion of the Rifle Brigade.
Harry at age 38 when the war broke out was unlikely to have been called up so must have been on a national reserve list or volunteered for the Territorials the Rifle Brigade formed the 19th Service Battalion in 1915 and was taking in national reservists etc. Note as a Bricklayer his occupation would have been exempted initially.
Battalions of the Territorial Force; 18th (London); 19th (Western), 20th (Northern), 21st (Midland), 22nd (Wessex & Welsh), 23rd (North Western), and 24th (Home Counties). The battalions were formed in accordance with an Army Council Instruction on 29th November 1915. The Battalions were made up of supernumerary TF Companies, formed from National Reservists who were used for guarding vulnerable points in Great Britain. The Bn.s were posted for Garrison duty overseas in 1916. 19th Bn. and 20th Bn. to Egypt.
1916 – 1918
William was part of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force (EEF) and the 19th Bn. on Garrison protection duty, given his age on assignment he likely spent the war on this defensive guard duty and did not take part in the battles around the Egyptian protectorate. Williams Bn. was in Egypt and Palestine during the period 1916-31 Oct 1918.

Notes: The EEF was formed on 10 March 1916 under the command of General A. J. Murray from the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, and the Force in Egypt (1914–1915) at the beginning of the Sinai and Palestine Campaign in the Middle Eastern theatre of World War I. Formed in the British protectorate of the Sultanate of Egypt, the initially small force was to guard the Suez Canal and Egypt. After the withdrawal from the Gallipoli Campaign, the force grew into a large reserve force designed to provide reinforcements for the Western Front, while the Western Frontier Force fought in the Senussi Campaign from 1915 to 1917, and the Eastern Frontier Force defended the canal at the Battle of Romani in August 1916.
Following the victory at Romani part of Eastern Force pursued the German commanded Ottoman Empire invading force back to Palestine after the victories at the Battle of Magdhaba in December 1916 and the Battle of Rafa in January 1917, by which time Desert Column had been formed within Eastern Force. These victories which resulted in the recapture of substantial Egyptian territory were followed in March and April, by two EEF defeats on Ottoman Empire territory, at the First and Second Battles of Gaza in southern Palestine.source: Wikipedia
