  • 11th December. Attested at Bedford. The address was given as 89 Heath Rd. Leighton Buzzard
1916
  • 29th May mobilised.
  • 29th May-13th Sept 1916. Home depot.
  • 14th September, embarked for France with the Regiment. Posted to 6th Battalion Northants.
  • 26th September 1916. Somme, Thiepval. Battalion in support for attack on Thiepval by 11th Royal Fusiliers and 12th Middlesex Regiment. Commanding officer – Lt. Vol. Gerge Eustace Ripley wounded. Later has arm amputated, and dies of tetanus on 16th October 1916. $7 men killed on this day , could well be when Frederick was sick or wounded.
  • 29-30 September. Invalided of of the line
  • October. Likely in Hospital on the coast of France until he well enough to be returned home
  • 19th November – Invalided home?
1917
  • 22nd October discharged unfit to serve further. The Silver War Medal records indicate illness, got sick when in France and was unable to continue service.
