15th Infantry Coat of Arms
1918
  • 12 September. Drafted at age 18. This was too late to be sent to the European war and is probably why after basic training he was to be sent to join the 15th Infantry. We do not know where Eddy would have attended training camp.  The Army deemed Colorado too cold a place to establish a major camp so most of the state’s volunteers and draftees trained at places such as Camp Funston in Kansas, Camp Kearney in San Diego, and Camp Mills at Hempstead, Long Island, New York.
