- 13 Nov Enlisted with the 2/1st Bn Royal Devons Yeomanry. Note. The battalion had a varied beginning. Formed as a Second-Line regiment in September 1914 and remained in the UK until in November 1916, converted into a Cyclist unit and re-designated 4th Yeomanry Cyclist Regiment. Resumed original identity in March 1917 all before Sidney joined.
1918
- The battalion was sent to Ireland in 1918 and didn’t serve in a combat zone in the war.
1919
- 10 Jan. Sidney is honourably discharged either sick or wounded and awarded the Silver War Badge.
- 21 Feb. Silver War Badge # B102198 badge issued 21 Feb. 1919.
